The webinar of the International Railway Research Board (IRRB) on heavy haul traffic was held. The online seminar «Environmental trends and new digital opportunities for heavy haul traffic» was devoted to the impact of environmental requirements and digital technologies on heavy haul traffic.
Deputy General Director of the Institute Mikhail Mekhedov made a presentation on energy-saving technologies in the transportation process. Ilya Pershin, Director for Planning and Development of the Railway Infrastructure of JSC SUEK (@suek.ru), became the co-speaker of VNIIZhT. Also, the Chinese Academy of Railway Sciences (CARS), the Swedish State Transport Organization and the Rail Freight Transportation Group (RFG, UK) spoke about the latest achievements in the organization of heavy haul traffic.
The webinar was chaired by Vladimir Andreev, Head of the Technical Policy Department of Russian Railways. The event was moderated by Boris Lapidus, Chairman of the Joint Academic Council of Russian Railways, Doctor of Economics. In total, more than 200 representatives of railway companies, research and educational institutions in the field of railway transport from around the world took part in the webinar.
